To learn to skate or play hockey properly, the Egyptian Hockey League's beginner hour runs at 7:30 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at Sun City Mall, Cairo — any age, no experience necessary, gear provided.

Fun Kingdom, Sun City Mall, El-Nasr Road (the Autostrad), Sheraton Al Matar.
Public sessions are sold through Fun Kingdom, the mall’s entertainment centre. The EHL’s beginner hour and league sessions are played on this ice.

A public session is a good first taste of the ice. The beginner hour is for when you want someone to teach you: how to stand, stop and turn, and then how to carry a puck.
It takes complete beginners of any age — children, parents and adults who have never worn skates — with no experience necessary. The league provides the gear, so there is nothing to buy before you try it.
The league's own session follows at 8:30 PM on the same ice. Message us before a first visit and we will have gear ready.

Public session times move around lessons, hockey and events. Look at the rink’s own account on the day rather than relying on a time you saw last month.

Dress for cold hands
Rink air is cold even when Cairo is not. Long sleeves and a pair of gloves make a first session far more comfortable — and gloves protect your hands if you fall.

Stay near the boards
On your first laps, keep a hand’s reach from the boards, bend your knees and look ahead rather than at your feet. Everyone falls; getting back up is part of it.

Where can I go ice skating in Cairo?

Can I learn ice hockey in Cairo?
Yes. The Egyptian Hockey League runs a beginner hour at 7:30 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at Sun City Mall, Cairo. It is open to complete beginners of any age, no experience is necessary, and the league provides the gear. The league's own session follows on the same ice at 8:30 PM.
Can adults learn to ice skate in Cairo?

Can children learn to skate and play hockey in Cairo?
Yes. Children join the same beginner hour at Sun City Mall, Cairo, and a parent who has never skated can be on the ice at the same time. The youth programmes are explained at https://www.egyptianhockeyleague.com/kids.
Do I need my own skates or hockey gear?
Not for the EHL beginner hour: the league provides the gear, so nobody needs to buy a kit to start. Message the league before your first visit so gear can be ready for you. For a public skating session, ask the rink directly what it provides.

Is Ski Egypt an ice rink?
