What guides us - Three principles behind every ENHL call

Our officiating culture is built on clarity, accountability, and respect. These values shape how we recruit, train, and evaluate every crew member.

  • Consistent, modern rule application. We align with IIHF standards while tailoring interpretations to ENHL pace and player safety priorities, so every arena experiences the same game management.
  • Transparent feedback loops. Supervisors clip video, deliver digital scorecards, and schedule post-game debriefs that help you grow confidence with every call.
  • Community-first leadership. Officials act as culture-builders. We champion respect for athletes, fans, and fellow crew members while representing the ENHL brand.

How to join - Your pathway from application to assignment

We welcome officials at different stages of their journey. Follow these steps to be considered for the upcoming ENHL season and showcase your skills alongside experienced mentors.

  • Complete the officiating profile. Tell us about your certifications, on-ice experience, off-ice roles, and availability. Upload recent evaluation reports if you have them.
  • Virtual interview & rules assessment. Meet with our operations staff for a scenario-based conversation covering communication, positioning, and crisis management.
  • Shadow assignment & fitness screening. Join a preseason scrimmage to demonstrate mechanics, then complete our agility, skating, and reaction benchmarks.
  • Crew placement & mentorship. Receive your tier assignment, connect with your mentor supervisor, and get access to the ENHL Officials Portal and schedule.

What we look for - A readiness checklist before you submit

These guidelines help us place you on the right crew from the start. If you are building experience, let us know in your application so we can connect you with upcoming clinics.

  • Core qualifications.
    • Minimum of two seasons officiating competitive hockey or transferable experience from inline/ball hockey.
    • Valid background screening within the last 12 months (or willingness to complete upon acceptance).
    • Commitment to the ENHL Code of Conduct and conflict of interest policies.
  • Game-day expectations.
    • Arrival 90 minutes before puck drop for crew briefings and ice inspections.
    • Use of ENHL-issued officiating kits and communication devices.
    • Submission of digital game reports and notable incident logs within 12 hours.
  • Development journey.
    • Quarterly rules clinics and skating labs delivered in hybrid (in-person & virtual) formats.
    • Access to cross-border exchange programs and masterclasses with IIHF advisors.
    • Eligibility for advancement panels after two successful crew evaluations.

The ENHL is writing its rulebook in real time, and we need officials who see themselves as partners in that story. If you bring curiosity, composure, and a drive to serve the game, we will invest in your success.
