The Egyptian Hockey League (EHL) is the official organized ice hockey league in Egypt, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Cairo. The league runs competitive seasons across its clubs, develops officiating and coaching pathways in line with IIHF expectations, and is growing the game from Cairo to Alexandria. We are looking for a Referee Coordinator to build and manage the officiating program that supports EHL games throughout the season.
What you'll do
- Recruit, schedule, and assign referees and officials for league games and tournaments
- Develop and deliver training, certification, and evaluation programs for officials at all experience levels
- Serve as the primary point of contact for referees, resolving scheduling conflicts and in-game disputes
- Monitor officiating standards and provide feedback to support consistent rule enforcement across games
- Coordinate with league operations and club representatives to ensure officiating coverage for every fixture
- Support alignment of officiating practices with IIHF certification standards as the league pursues international recognition
What we're looking for
- Prior experience as an ice hockey official, referee, or in an officiating administration role
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules and last-minute changes
- Clear communicator able to give constructive feedback to officials of varying experience levels
- Working knowledge of ice hockey rules and officiating mechanics
- Comfortable working with league staff, coaches, and club representatives to resolve issues professionally
Nice to have
- Experience with 3-on-3 hockey formats or non-traditional rule sets
- Background in coach or official certification programs
- Familiarity with growing or developing hockey markets outside traditional hockey countries
