The Egyptian Hockey League (EHL) is the official organized ice hockey league in Egypt, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Cairo. As the league grows the sport from Cairo to Alexandria, it is looking for a Content Writer / Sports Journalist to help tell the story of the league, its five clubs, and the players competing for the cup — across the website, news section, and social channels.
What you'll do
- Write match recaps, boxscore breakdowns, and game-week previews on a fast turnaround following EHL fixtures
- Produce feature stories and announcements covering clubs, players, tournaments, and league milestones
- Maintain and update league news content, ensuring accuracy of scores, standings, and stats references
- Interview players, coaches, and league officials to source original quotes and storylines
- Collaborate with league staff to align content with schedule, draft, and tournament coverage
- Adapt written content for social media and promotional use around game days and events
What we're looking for
- Proven writing experience in sports journalism, content writing, or a related field, with samples or clips to share
- Ability to write clean, accurate, deadline-driven copy under time pressure, including same-day game recaps
- Strong grasp of sports terminology and ability to quickly learn the specifics of ice hockey rules and format
- Excellent command of English (Arabic proficiency a plus given the league's Egyptian audience)
- Comfortable working independently to research, draft, and file stories with minimal oversight
- Familiarity with basic content publishing tools or CMS platforms
Nice to have
- Prior coverage of ice hockey or other fast-paced, developing sports leagues
- Experience writing for a growing or emerging sports organization
- Photography or basic video/social content skills to complement written coverage
